Re: Job Market
Sun, January 18, 2004 - 7:16 PMIn Cleveland it has its ups and downs. Right now there's actually a slight market in Toledo, Ohio but I don't know how long that will last. There's several major automotive plants within 20 miles of me and I know that one of them will be closing within the next few years (Ford's E350 Assembly Plant in Vermillion Ohio)

Re: Job Market
Thu, August 18, 2005 - 9:19 PMI'm in LA and I've been here since Fall 2002.
It was rough. I was freelancing 5 different jobs because I couldn't find one full time gig. Everyone wanted to pay you $8-$12/hr, acting as though the design industry was like entertainment and people would just work for free to get their foot in the door.
Now I have a full time gig, full benefits and competative wages. My company is looking to hire one more person but has had trouble finding people with solid graphic design skills and not just general art skills.
Most of my friends have had it a little tough all around the US, but it has been picking up some.
If you are planning to come to LA, I can referr you to some good temp agencies which staff to design firms. It's a good start when jobs are tight.
